As conductor of the Prairie Pride Chorus, an LGBTQ2+ choir, David McIntyre composed 16 songs across two volumes trying to encapsulate the experiences of its members. The first set, Watershed One, debuted in 2002; Watershed Two came two years later. A 17th song was commissioned by Calgary’s One Voice Choir in 2017, to include transgender and genderqueer perspectives. The song "Singing in the Choir" starts with that line. ‘We met singing in the choir,’ were the very first words that two members told me when I was sitting at their dining room table,” McIntyre said. The second verse is women singing, and they sing, ‘We met at a potluck supper,’ which is so typical of lesbians in Regina,” he said with a chuckle.
