Interim Associate Minister of Music
Christ Covenant Metropolitan Community Church

<Christ Covenant Metropolitan Community Church, 109 Hibernia Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 is seeking an Interim Associate Minister of Music. Our church currently has 96 members. Our church is grounded in the Christian tradition and ministers primarily to the LGBT community (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender).

Christ Covenant has one Sunday morning service with Communion at 11:00 a.m. We have a full adult Chancel Choir accompanied by the Interim Associate Minister of Music. It is a liturgical service where sacred hymns and contemporary music are used.

We are looking for a talented and motivated pianist to take our worship experience to the next level. The ideal candidate must be able to play a variety of sacred, classical and contemporary music. This person must also be a self-starter but skilled in working well with teams. The position starts at 7.5 hours per week with a salary of $7,800 and as the church grows this position will grow too.

Experience in organ accompaniment is an asset.

Artistic Director
Central PA Womyn's Chorus

The Central PA Womyn's Chorus, a lesbian and feminist chorus in Harrisburg, PA, is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Artistic Director versed in a wide variety of musical styles, who will encourage musical excellence and membership growth.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in music, 1 year experience directing, ability to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and enjoyment, and availability for Monday night rehearsals. Compensation will be discussed at interview.

The CPWC Artistic Director provides overall artistic leadership and direction to the chorus, sectional leaders, and accompanist(s), conducts rehearsal each Monday evening in season, conducts scheduled performances, plans concert themes at least one year in advance in collaboration with the grant writing committee, leads the music selection committee in selection of repertoire to support planned concerts, and presents monthly reports to the board of directors regarding the status of the artistic programs and projects. Chorus Manager
San Diego Men's Chorus

CHORUS MANAGER Part-Time Contractor

The San Diego Men’s Chorus, performing high-quality choral music since 1985, is growing. We’re now accepting resumes for our new Chorus Manager position. The Chorus Manager will coordinate the functions of our office, provide administrative support to our Board of Directors and Artistic Director, and assist with special projects, The position will be paid a monthly salary based on 10-12 hours per week. It is supervised by the President of the Board.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

OFFICE MANAGEMENT:

  • Answer phones and pick-up voicemails; route messages to leadership team.
  • Check and respond to web and e-mail inquiries; route inquiries to leadership team.
  • Develop systems for office filing--including financial records, files, archival materials, and membership information.
  • Select, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with office projects and administrative tasks.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:

  • Supervise activities of Operations Staff, a group of volunteers who provide administrative assistance and refreshments at weekly rehearsals, as well as front-of-house staffing at concerts.
  • Attend most weekly rehearsals to assist in Ops Staff supervision and collection of payments, dues, tickets, and other membership-related items.
  • Type letters, marketing materials, and other items for distribution to membership, patrons, press, and the public.
  • Assist Treasurer with basic bookkeeping functions, including some use of accounting software.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the volunteer Librarian, music filing systems.
  • Order, photocopy and distribute printed music scores for members.
  • Assist with updating of website content and online membership portal, as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the President and/or Artistic Director.

SPECIAL PROJECTS & CYCLICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate distribution, assignment, and collection of concert tickets.
  • Manage season subscription database and seat assignments.
  • Coordinate mailings for concerts and other events.
  • Assist with collection of materials and sales of ad space for concert program books.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & TRAITS

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage many different tasks
  • Excellent written communication skills, with good eye for editing and commitment to accuracy (may be required to submit writing samples)
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Computer software skills, specifically strong in Word, Excel and desktop publishing
  • Familiarity with Music or Arts organization culture, needs, operations
  • Friend and supporter of the LGBT community
  • Eye for detail and high standards

Principal Accompanist/Asst. Director
Triangle Gay Men’s Chorus

The Triangle Gay Men’s Chorus-a 12-year old men’s choral ensemble is looking for a solid, experienced accompanist to join our artistic staff and propel our organization through its second decade of performing. A member of the GALA Choruses (Gay & Lesbian Association of Choruses), TGMC has a rich history of musical excellence.

Currently, we are searching for a rehearsal and performance accompanist. Applicants should be proficient on the piano, have strong warm-up fundamentals and have excellent sight-reading ability. The position will eventually become an Assistant Director of the Chorus and Artistic Director for our new small ensemble.

Hopefuly, the right candidate will be adept at the following:

  • Sight-reading accompaniment,
  • Open-score reading of parts,
  • Vocal warm-up techniques,
  • Choral accompanying (excellent touch, tempo, style), and
  • Giving feedback to the Artistic Director.

Job Description: Co-Director of New Mexico Women's Chorus

As a non-auditioned feminist community chorus, New Mexico Women's Chorus welcomes all women without regard to musical ability or experience level, sexual orientation, or gender identity, and we are committed as a group to improving our musical skill.

NMWC is run democratically by chorus members, with a 7-member Board of Directors who manage business matters and chorus operations. Oversight of artistic affairs is shared between chorus membership, the Board, and the choral director or co-directors.

Co-Director's responsibilities include:

  • Conducting the musical portion of chorus rehearsals and performances, and organizing and assisting in the production of section-based rehearsal tapes.
  • Collaborating with, determining placement of, and providing musical direction to singers, including coaching in vocal and choral techniques.
  • Working respectfully with women at various levels of musical performance, comfort, experience, and skill.
  • Working respectfully with differently-abled and special-needs members.
  • Collaborating with and providing musical direction to accompanists, instrumentalists, section leaders, ensembles, and other musical guests.
  • Working with the Board of Directors and the chorus membership to establish and achieve musical goals through program development, repertoire selection, and maintenance and improvement of artistic standards.
  • Performing related work as mutually agreed upon with the Board of Directors and the chorus membership.
  • Collaborating with other choruses and their directors as appropriate (such as the New Mexico Gay Men's Chorus).

Co-directors will work together, with Board input, to determine how conducting duties will be shared.

Music Director/Conductor
Providence Gay Men's Chorus

The Providence Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC) is currently seeking a new Music Director/Conductor for its 2008-09 season. The PGMC, founded in 1995, is a men’s 4-part chorus currently comprised of 25 singers. The chorus’ mission is "Harmonizing Diversity in Song" and the ideal candidate for this position will help the PGMC to champion this goal. The chorus currently performs twice yearly, in the fall and spring, as well as at a number of fundraisers and community outreach events throughout the year. The ideal candidate for this part-time position will have previous experience directing/conducting choral groups and must have a four-year college degree in a related music field. Complete Job Description:

The Music Director provides the artistic vision of the Providence Gay Men’s Chorus and is responsible for the leadership and direction of every performance aspect of the chorus. The Music Director is under contract and accountable to the PGMC Board of Directors.

Artistic Management

  • Provides overall artistic leadership and direction for the chorus
  • Conducts auditions for chorus members as needed
  • Recruits the community’s best choral talent
  • Develops and maintains relationships with existing choral organizations in the community (i.e., GALA member choruses)
  • Coordinates and serves as leader in preparation for multiple choral concerts

Artistic Director
Rocky Mountain Arts Association

Rocky Mountain Arts Association is seeking an Artistic Director for Out Loud: The Colorado Springs Men’s Chorus. This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week (increases during concert and outreach periods).

The Artistic Director of Out Loud: The Colorado Springs Men’s Chorus is responsible for implementing the artistic and musical decisions of the Chorus. The Artistic Director plans and executes all of the music in a given season: rehearsals, performances, recordings, and outreaches. In addition to musical duties, the Artistic Director should maintain a visible image in the community to promote the Chorus in all areas.

About Out Loud: The Colorado Springs Men’s Chorus (Out Loud)

Out Loud, a program of Rocky Mountain Arts Association, was founded in 2006 with 22 singers at its premier concert. The chorus quickly grew to its current 50 members. Out Loud is the first and only gay/gay supportive men’s chorus in Colorado Springs and joins seven other GLBT/Allied choruses in Colorado. The chorus performs two major concert series each season (Fall/Holiday and Spring), a July Pride concert, and a minimum of 10 outreach concerts each year in the Colorado Springs and Denver metropolitan areas.

Out Loud exists to build community through music. The members of the Chorus have joined together for the purpose of making an artistic statement: the Chorus, as it sings, provides educational, cultural, and social enrichment for our audiences and ourselves, and we identify as an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) people and supporters that is actively making a positive contribution to the entire community.

About Rocky Mountain Arts Association (RMAA)

RMAA was formed in 1982 as the parent of the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus, the first arts program in Colorado to use the word “gay” in its name. Over the years, RMAA has grown and its programs now include Out Loud: The Colorado Springs Men’s Chorus and Mosaic Youth Chorus, the seventh chorus of its kind in North America for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth and their straight friends, ages 14 to 20. Artistic Director & Conductor
VOICES of Kentuckiana

Organization description: VOICES has been providing quality choral music to the Kentuckiana region since 1994. The chorus is fully-inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and heterosexual friends. VOICES is a non-auditioned, mixed chorus comprised of 60-70 volunteer singers, and a small, auditioned group of 8 - 12 voices. See www.voicesky.org for more information.

Duties and responsibilities: The Artistic Director will work with the Board to provide overall artistic leadership to the chorus. Specifically, he/she will:

1. Program, prepare, and conduct 2 - 3 full-length, major concerts per year;
2. Program, prepare, and conduct 2-5 outreach performances per year;
3. Prepare the chorus for GALA performance every 4th year.
4. Prepare the chorus for performances with other organizations as necessary;
5. Select and/or audition soloists from among the chorus or, as necessary and appropriate, from outside the chorus; select and/or audition instrumentalists as necessary and appropriate.

6. Participate in public relations, marketing, and fundraising activities in conjunction with Board as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Professional training and experience in choral conducting.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of musical styles and classical traditions.
  • Affinity for working with gays/lesbians.
  • Strong leadership, charisma, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to artistic achievement by amateur performers.

Artistic Director
Empire City Men's Chorus

About the Chorus:
The Empire City Men's Chorus is New York City's only predominantly gay men's choir dedicated to the performance of classical music. Founded in 1993 as the Gay Gotham Chorus, the group's mission is to serve the gay, lesbian and transgendered community of the New York City metropolitan area through the cultural enrichment of audiences and members alike. Although relying primarily on the talent and resources of New York's gay community, the Chorus is open to all. The Chorus is committed to music and performance of the highest levels of excellence, innovation and artistic integrity. Since its founding, the Chorus has earned critical and audience acclaim for its performances of a diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary choral literature and commissioned works. The chorus typically comprises 30-40 male singers.

About the Artistic Director:
The Artistic Director provides the artistic vision for the Chorus. He or she is responsible for the leadership and direction of every aspect of performances for the Chorus and, if applicable, guest soloists and orchestra. This position reports to the Board of Directors of the Empire City Men's Chorus.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Set the artistic direction and programming for the group, arrange for instrumentalists, soloists, etc., to fulfill said programming, and set up an initial budget for same. The Artistic Director is responsible to the Board of Directors for the execution of all artistic activities of the group, maintaining musical standards and assisting the Board in its establishment of goals.
  • Prepare and direct all rehearsals and performances of the chorus.
  • Serve as an advisory member of the Board.
  • Work closely with the Board on all aspects of publicity, fundraising, and promotion.
  • Develop exciting season concert programming, within the financial parameters set forth by the executive board.
  • Hire and manage musicians/soloists and secure performance spaces.
  • Conduct semi-annual auditions for new members.
  • Maintain musical standards.
  • Assist in public relations and fundraising efforts.
  • Initiate the commissioning of new works and arrangements for the Chorus.
  • Artistic Management
    • Chooses appropriate repertoire and concert venues within the approved budget.
    • Prepares and conducts all regular Tuesday evening rehearsals (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), one or two weekend retreats, and one dress rehearsal per concert cycle.
    • Works with the Chorus librarian to purchase, rent or otherwise secure all required music.
    • Secures agreements from composers, arrangers and orchestrators in coordination with the Chorus' Board of Directors.
    • Selects and prepares guest soloists and orchestra.
    • Prepares scores and markings for the chorus, orchestra, and soloists.
    • Conducts ECMC in performance.
    • Supervises all recording activities.
    • Provides program notes for each concert.
    • Approves, with the Board of Directors, content of the concert program and concert publicity.
    • Conducts all choral performances.
  • Board Involvement
    • Attends monthly Board meetings.
    • Presents monthly reports to the Board.

Compensation

The Empire City Men's Chorus rehearses on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and performs primarily at venues in Manhattan.
