OUT and LOUD GALA Choruses Festival Chorus FAQs

1. What is OUT and LOUD and who is eligible to participate in the GALA Choruses Festival Chorus?

OUT and LOUD is a long weekend of performances, workshops, meetings and special events hosted by the LGBT choruses of New Zealand and Australia. Any singer from a GALA Choruses member chorus is eligible to participate.

2. When/where is OUT and LOUD and when/where would the GALA Chorus Festival Chorus(GCFC) be performing?

OUT and LOUD will be held from Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5, 2010 in Auckland. The performance date and time for the GCFC has not yet been set. The GCFC will be conducted by Dr. Kathleen McGuire.

3. What would the GCFC be performing at OUT and LOUD?

The repertoire has not yet been determined.

4. How would the singers learn the music?

Rehearsal mp3 files will be posted on the web site so that singers can learn the music prior to making the trip. Rehearsals will be scheduled in Auckland prior to the performance.

5. What would the travel and housing arrangements be?

Participants would make their own travel and housing arrangements at their own cost. The OUT and LOUD web site provides air travel and accommodation information under the Travel tab.

6. Would there be a delegate registration cost?

The delegate registration cost is $165 NZD for registration paid prior to December 1, 2009, $195 NZD for registration paid by January 31, 2010 and $235 NZD for registration paid by March 15, 2010.

7. How is registration payment to be made?

The Festival organizers have asked that we collect the registration fees for members of the GCFC and remit to them in one wire transfer. Please use the form on the GALA Choruses web page to remit your registration fee.

8. When would we need to arrive in Auckland and how long would we need to be there?

You would need to arrive no later than early in the day on Thursday, April 1. The performance is _____________ so your departure could be no earlier than ____________________.

9. Would there be any community housing available?

No, but there are some budget housing options listed on the OUT and LOUD web site at very reasonable costs.

10. Is the registration fee refundable or transferable?

The fee is not refundable but it can be transferred.

11. Where can I find more information about OUT and LOUD?

12. Do partners need to register if they are going to attend the GCFC performance?

There is a place on the OUT and LOUD registration form to indicate if you are bringing a non-singing guest. There is a $75 non-singing guest fee to attend Festival activities.

13. What is and is not included in delegate registration?

Registration includes Saturday lunch, morning and afternoon teas, admission to a Saturday night party, Festival t-shirt and bag. There are no separate tickets required for performances.

14. Will we be performing with music?

You will be permitted to use music. Please bring a black binder if you plan to use your music.

15. When and where will rehearsals be held?

We do not have the rehearsal times and locations yet and will post that information when it becomes available.

16. What will we wear for the performance?

Men and women will wear solid color tops with black bottoms. There can be no brands, logos or text on the shirt, it must be long sleeve and one of the colors of the rainbow flag. Wear comfortable shoes!
