Peter R. Caborn
Director of Major Gifts. Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation
Peter R. Caborn is currently the Director of Major Gifts for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) where over the last two years he has effectively increased major gifts revenue for the organization from $2.3 million annually to $4.2 million annually. Prior to joining GLAAD in 2005, Peter was the National Advancement Director for the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy. During his tenure there, the Center benefited from its first broad-based strategic plan and long-term development plan, its first membership campaign, and its first series of high-dollar fundraising events. Peter has served on the board of the Kaleidoscope Youth Coalition (an LGBT-youth focused service organization in Ohio) and has either chaired or sat on many fundraising committees for other organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Human Rights Campaign, The National Kidney Foundation and Equality Ohio. Peter holds a Master of Arts in Ethics, Politics and Public Policy from the University of Essex, England.
Joseph P. Nadeau
Joseph P. Nadeau: The 2006-07 season marks Dr. Nadeau’s eighth year as artistic director of the Heartland Men’s Chorus. This is also Joe’s twelfth year as an active member of GALA Choruses Inc. Joe received a bachelor of music degree in music education from the University of Maine, and a Master of Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music. In May, 2007, Joe received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
Since Joe’s arrival in 1998, the HMC membership has grown to 120 singers and more than 150 active members. Under Joe’s direction, the chorus has performed in various cities throughout the United States and in 2002, completed a European tour, performing in London, Paris, and Hamburg. The chorus performs regularly at many festivals, conferences and events including an invitation to sing at the national Chorus America conference in June of 2003.
In addition to his work with the chorus, Joe is also a music director for First Lutheran Church and has served as conductor and clinician at festivals and performances on the regional and state levels. Joe is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, the Music Educator’s National Conference, the Chorister’s Guild, and Chorus America.
David Streit
Vice Chairman, Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C.
David Streit is Director of Operations and Senior Meteorologist at MDA Federal Inc. Space Sciences Division. He has a Masters Degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. David specializes in marketing, finance and human resources management. He has been a singer, a tenor, throughout his life, including numerous church choirs. He was a member of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus in 1987 and joined the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC (GMCW) in 1988 and has been an avid member ever since. During the past 19 years with GMCW, David has served 11 years on the Board and Chaired the Board for 5 years. He has also served GMCW as Membership Chair, Development Chair, Auction Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. His most recent work for GMCW has been as Governance Chair. Other affiliations include Foundry United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity and Human Rights Campaign.
Andres Cladera
Artistic Director, Renaissance City Women’s Choir
Andres Cladera, a native of Montevideo, Uruguay, was recently named "Artist of International Acclaim" by the American Federation of Musicians, and is the Artistic Director of the Renaissance City Women’s Choir in Pittsburgh, PA. He performs regularly with Chatham Baroque, Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, Carnegie Mellon Repertory Orchestra, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Spoleto Festival USA and Basoti Festival. Since 2000 he has been the Director of Pittsburgh Early Music Ensemble. He is a music educator and conductor at The Ellis School in Pittsburgh. Mr. Cladera performs throughout the United States, South America, and Europe as a pianist and singer. This coming summer, Mr. Cladera will be teaching this summer, at the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City.
