Anne Dunning
Principal Consultant, ARTS Action Research
Anne Dunning became a principal consultant at ARTS Action Research in March, 2004. Before coming to New York, she spent ten years with the Danny Grossman Dance Company in Toronto where she was director of communications, associate general manager and administrative director. She has taken on numerous leadership roles in the arts community. In Canada she was founding chair of the national council of the Canadian Dance Assembly, whip of The Creative Trust endowment campaign and continues to serve on the George Cedric Metcalf Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives Advisory Committee. In the United States, she has been a trustee and Chair of the Board of Dance/USA, the national service organization for dance. She has contributed to the Dance Umbrella of Ontario’s Step by Step electronic workbook, has taught for Humber College’s arts administration program and been a mentor and guest speaker for the University of Toronto’s arts administration program. Before becoming involved in the arts, Anne studied biology at McGill University in Montreal, where she received an honors Bachelor of Science in ecology, evolution and behavior.
Sharon Heinlen
Professor Regis University, Masters of Nonprofit Management Program
Sharon Heinlen is a Professor in the Master of Nonprofit Management Program at Regis University, and an Ed.D. degree candidate. She received the Excellence in Teaching Award from Regis University in 2005. She has served numerous nonprofit organizations as an executive, board member and board president throughout her career. She is a consultant for board education, executive level coaching, and organizational development to national and international nonprofit professionals and organizations.
Timothy De Prey
Principal Accompanist, Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus
Timothy De Prey: This is Timothy’s 15th season as Principal Accompanist for the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. Throughout his career with the Chorus, he has been in demand as an accompanist for GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses). In the summer of 1998, he was chosen to be the accompanist for the Festival Chorus at the Gay Games in Amsterdam and in the summer of 2000 was chosen to be the accompanist for the Festival Men’s Chorus at Festival 2000 in San Jose, CA. As a choral accompanist, in addition to working under 3 directors of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus: David Lohmann, Craig Carnahan and Dr. Stan Hill, Timothy has worked with Grammy Award winning directors Vance George and Chanticleer’s Joseph Jennings.
De Prey can be heard on all eight of the TCGMC’s CDs, Proud and Peaceful, a CD of solo piano music from pianists with GALA, and on his own solo CD, In the Evening Air, a collection of nocturnes, lullabies and night songs.
Timothy is the Director of Individual Instruction at the MacPhail Center for Music. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music therapy from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, is a board-certified music therapist and has a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Minnesota. His many credits include the role of the accompanist in Park Square Theatre’s production of Master Class; the Minnesota Opera; Opera 101, the College of St. Catherine’s; the Calhoun Beach Club; Bryant Lake Bowl; and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire’s Statesmen Men’s Chorus under the direction of Morris Hayes.
Kevin Carroll
Voices of Kentuckiana
Kevin Carroll, a native Buckeye from Defiance, Ohio now residing in Louisville KY for the past 4 years, joined VOICES of Kentuckiana as a chorus member in 2003, accepted the position of Treasurer in the Fall of 2004 and recently accepted the appointment for a 2nd term. Kevin has his BS from Indiana Tech majoring in Business Management and has been employed by National City Bank for over 10 years. Here he has served as Branch Office Manager and currently as a Retail Performance Delivery Integration Specialist specializing in Small Business Lending, Bank Audits, Regulations and Policies and Procedures. This is Kevin’s second appearance at presenting the Treasurers workshop at the GALA leadership Conference.
Casey J. Hayes
Musical Director, The New York City Ambassador Chorus; Founding Director, The Women’s Chorus of New York
Casey J. Hayes serves as the Co-Music Director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus as well as Musical Director of The New York City Ambassador Chorus, the outreach arm of the NYCGMC. Prior to his arrival in New York City, Casey was both the Assistant Conductor and Principal Accompanist for the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus. Casey began playing the piano at age 7 under legendary teachers Armilla Zix Wilson and Edgar Roberts of The Juilliard School. He has Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees in Music Education and Choral Conducting from Butler University, where he studied with acclaimed choral conductor Henry Leck and composer/arranger James Quitman Mulholland. Casey is an ABD doctoral candidate in Music Education at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education, where he specializes in the study of Educational Outreach within Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender choruses. He is in high demand as a clinician and presenter throughout the world on issues facing GLBT community choruses; informing audiences throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain as well as addressing the 27th World Conference of the International Society for Music Education in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His international work within the world of community choruses has resulted in his election onto the advisory board for World Community Music Activities for the International Society for Music Education. In addition to championing the causes of the GLBT choral movement, Casey also serves as Musical Director for Tony Award-winning Broadway actress Joanna Gleason as well as chairing the Creative Arts Department of The Hewitt School, a private school for girls on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Professionally, he sits on the Board of Directors of the international Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA Choruses), as well as the Board of Advisors for the Chicago Arts Orchestra. Also, he has professional affiliations with the International Society for Music Education, Music Educators National Conference, American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, Kappa, Delta Pi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the New York State School Music Association.
Jennie Morette
Copyright Compliance Officer, Mark Custom Recording Service Inc.
Jennie Morette has been the copyright compliance officer and Director of Marketing for Mark Custom Recording Service since 2000. Her Paralegal degree has been put to good use as she has worked on securing over 10,000 copyright clearances. Jennie has been instrumental in ensuring that the copyrights for the past two international conventions have been legal. Her catch phrase "You are officially off the hook with me", was a badge of honor for all Festival VIIe performers. Jennie along with her husband, Mark have co-authored the soon to be published copyright handbook, "Copyright, Copywrong: Copyconfusion - The Novel".

Mark J. Morette is the second-generation owner of Mark Custom Recording Service, Inc. Based in Clarence, NY, Mark Recording was founded in 1962 by Vincent S. Morette, a music/technology pioneer and innovator who brought music education and the tape recorder together. Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and has been recording for over 27 years. Mark has been privileged to work with some of the finest names in music. This includes Jazz greats, Bobby McFerrin, Dizzy Gillespie, John Faddis. Pop music favorites; Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce (both of "Cream"), Richie Havens, Billy Sheehan, Denny Laine, 10,000 Maniacs, Goo Goo Dolls, Laurie Anderson, Ani DiFranco, Misfits, Men at Work.
